Who are we and what do we stand for?

A) Our story

Launched in 2013 by Moulaye and Kadry as a side-project to help a friend’s mother, we understood quickly that there was room for opportunity for distribution through the web for the African culture. With an outsourced MVP, we saw the first orders coming and we decided to dedicate full time to this growing project. With the coming of Luc, in 2016 we focused on Tech and Product and then launched Afrikrea, the marketplace, and Boom… a growth of 8% per week doubling our revenue every quarter and multiplying our revenue 10 times every year!

After several fundraisings, a move to Abidjan, the coming of our first team members, and a strong partnership with DHL, Afrikrea became the number 1 African eCommerce exporter.

B) The current situation: the transition to Anka

In 2020, rich in these years of experience in direct contact with sellers and as entrepreneurs serving entrepreneurs, we understood that the challenges of the sellers were deeper than those solved by the marketplace, Afrikrea. Our sellers faced specific African issues such as the lack of visibility globally, the difficulty of shipping products worldwide from Africa, and the complexity of payments between international and local ways. To resolve these needs that exceed the perimeter of a simple marketplace, we decided to create Anka.

Anka, powered by Afrikrea, is the all-in-one solution for sellers of products « Made of Africa » (fashion, art, food, or beauty…) to sell from anywhere, ship worldwide, get paid faster on international or local African payment methods, and manage easily their businesses.

In January 2022, we raised 5,4 million euros from top-tier investors (including the founder of Alibaba) with a new purpose… Unleash the growth of African Entrepreneurship!

To help us achieve this in the next 9 months, we are developing new services (App, Content, Coaching…) in a revenue-driven way, which is why we are looking for the right people.

  • A team of 45 badass team members (14 different nationalities located in 12 different countries and with an average age of 32 years) passionate about the purpose, diverse, experienced, and very cool!

Specific KPIs for the Sales Team

  • Number of qualified leads generated per month
  • Number of new active subscribers
  • Percentage of subscribers who received at least one engagement notification or message during the week
  • Net new ARR (=Annual Recurring Revenue)




What are we looking for?

A) Context of the team and vision of the job

Under the responsibility of Ola, our Head of Sales, and Ibrahima, our Lead Sales, you’ll work in a team of 2 smart and badass people. The current team is focused on our current subscriber database, it's the reason why we are looking for the 1st members of the team who will take the time to focus on potential subscribers who have never subscribed to ANKA or who don't even know ANKA.

The mission of the Sales team is simple: Get more qualified leads, convert them to active subscribers and enable them to increase their revenue by using our different services.

In regular contact with the Marketing & Account Managers but also our prospects, your role will be to generate 2 000 qualified leads per month.

B) Your challenges (if you accept them…)

  • Define strategies to find qualified leads for Anka Services on multiple sources (social media, Google, Marketplaces, Word of Mouth, Forums, Business Events…) and execute them
  • Update Sales Documents with collected and relevant information
  • Use prospecting strategies to lead initial outreach to a prospect



C) What you will need to succeed

In terms of hard & soft skills (=Mandatory):

  • You’re fluent in French and English
  • You already worked in a startup environment
  • Proficient in Google & Microsoft Suites and especially in Excel & Google Sheet
  • Teamwork: You can work within a team
  • Communication skills: You can communicate efficiently
  • Goal oriented Mindest

D) Your recruitment process

  • A 45-minute interview on Zoom with Ibrahima, our Lead Sales, to validate the fit with our needs and your fit with Anka
  • A technical test to complete in 24 hours at home
  • A 1h interview on Zoom with Ola, our Head of Sales, and your future manager, and Kadry, our COO to deep dive into your technical skills
  • A 30-minute interview on Zoom with Laetitia, our Head of People & Culture, to validate your fit with the team and our culture

E) Key information about this position

    • Start date of this position: The 5th of December 2023 (at the latest)
    • Salary : 300 euros net per month + 100 euros of bonus if you exceed the goal + 1 euro for each closed deal
