Who are we and what do we stand for?

A) Our story

Launched in 2013 by Moulaye and Kadry as a side-project to help a friend’s mother, we understood quickly that there was room for opportunity for distribution through the web for the African culture. With an outsourced MVP, we saw the first orders coming and we decided to dedicate full time to this growing project. With the coming of Luc, in 2016 we focused on Tech and Product and then launched Afrikrea, the marketplace, and Boom… a growth of 8% per week doubling our revenue every quarter and multiplying our revenue 10 times every year!

After several fundraisings, a move to Abidjan, the coming of our first team members, and a strong partnership with DHL, Afrikrea became the number 1 African eCommerce exporter.

B) The current situation: the transition to Anka

In 2020, rich in these years of experience in direct contact with sellers and as entrepreneurs serving entrepreneurs, we understood that the challenges of the sellers were deeper than those solved by the marketplace, Afrikrea. Our sellers faced specific African issues such as the lack of visibility globally, the difficulty of shipping products worldwide from Africa, and the complexity of payments between international and local ways. To resolve these needs that exceed the perimeter of a simple marketplace, we decided to create Anka.

Anka, powered by Afrikrea, is the all-in-one solution for sellers of products « Made of Africa » (fashion, art, food, or beauty…) to sell from anywhere, ship worldwide, get paid faster on international or local African payment methods, and manage easily their businesses.

In January 2022, we raised 5,4 million euros from top-tier investors (including the founder of Alibaba) with a new purpose… Unleash the growth of African Entrepreneurship! To help us achieve this in the next 9 months, we are developing new services (App, Content, Coaching…) in a revenue-driven way and it’s the reason why we are looking for the right people.

    What are we looking for?

      A) Context of the team and vision of the job

      Under the responsibility of Rawdah, our Head of Services, you’ll work in a team of 5 smart and badass people (2 people dedicated to Logistics and 3 people dedicated to Payment).

      The mission of the Services team is simple: Develop the growth and the usage of our Services (Logistics and Payment) for our sellers and enable them to be satisfied by them.

      In regular contact with the Compliance, Customer Support, and Tech Teams but also our sellers, your role will be to reduce fraud and maintain sellers' satisfaction

      B) Your challenges (if you accept them…)

      • Fraud Moderation:
        • Monitor real-time queues and identify high-risk transactions
        • Identify fraudulent transactions and blocked users
        • Determine existing fraud trends by analyzing accounts and transaction patterns
        • Generate suspicious activity reports and risk management reports for Managers
        • Recommend anti-fraud processes for changing transaction patterns and trends
      • Day-to-day operations:
        • Optimize operational processes and procedures for maximum
        • Assist with the implementation of new processes and procedures
        • Interact with Sellers answering questions, and resolving issues.
        • Track and report on operational performance.
        • Maintain policy and procedure documents.

      C) What you will need to succeed

      In terms of hard & soft skills (=Mandatory):

      • You have a previous experience as Operations Analyst
      • You’re fluent in French and English
      • You have strong communication skills and you already managed interactions with customers
      • You‘re Details oriented and data-oriented with an analytical mindset and a good master of Excel
      • You’re rigorous with self-discipline and a sense of responsibility
      • You have strong communication skills and the ability to work easily in a team and interact with customers
      • Your resourcefulness enables you to be flexible and adaptable


      D) Your recruitment process

        • A 45-minute interview on Zoom with Laetitia, our Head of People, to validate the fit with our needs including a quick test
        • A 1h interview on Zoom with Rawdah, our Head of Services, and your future manager, to deep dive into your technical skills, your motivations, and the fit with the team
        • A 30-minute interview on Zoom with Guillaume, our CFO, to validate your fit with our culture

        E) Key information about this position

          • Start date of this position: The 6th of February 2023
          • Salary: Between 500 and 700 euros according to the experience of the candidate
